Solar power plants differ from other types of investments in that they can take up relatively little space, and the desire to create solar power plants is not associated with the need to run the entire machine and factory, as is the case with obtaining electricity by burning coal. Turning solar energy into electricity is possible thanks to the so-called photovoltaic modules, which are built of the solar panels described below. The area that is needed for the construction of the installation to be profitable depends on the performance of these panels. In fact, nothing else is needed. Modules are usually mounted on the roof, because there they have the best access to solar energy. However, this is not the rule, although the largest number of solar panels are on the roofs.

HOW SOLAR POWER PLANTS WORK

Photovoltaic panels , which create modules of different surface, make up special cells that receive sunlight and convert them into electricity through a reaction called a potential difference. In theory, it looks very simple, but in practice it also requires a bit of refinement. First of all, the panels are able to use only a part of the solar energy reaching them, and the level of this capacity is called the efficiency of the panels. It is worth knowing that when the day is cloudy and the access to solar energy is poor, the electricity acquisition by the cells is weaker, but we can always be sure that it is not negligible.

The solar power plant requires a proper connection to the electrical installation in the house or other building, which we decide to power in this way. The connection must be made correctly, because all devices in the house, as well as light require a different level of current. The current generated by the cells is not able to adapt itself, which is why a proper mechanism is needed to ensure that all devices are powered as required.

HOME SOLAR POWER PLANT, IS IT POSSIBLE?

Although the price of a photovoltaic installation for households can be dizzy, it is possible and completely according to plan. Until now, solar power plants for domestic use were considered unprofitable, because to generate the right amount of electricity either a large area or extremely efficient panels are needed, which is associated with a high cost that most of us cannot afford. However, costs are still falling, and renewable energy sources are eagerly subsidized by the state, which must catch up with EU standards on the use of renewable energy in a very short time. So if you want to get electricity from the rays of the sun, now is a very good time.

A positive surprise is the fact that photovoltaic installations can be installed in any area. Of course, everything is important for the efficiency of the installation, but the placement of panels is possible both on a flat roof and in different degrees of slope. The highest efficiency of the installation is when the sun reaches the cells in the best possible way, which have a chance for long-term access to the sun’s rays. The power of the cells determines the processing capacity of the modules, so it is possible to effectively use the sun’s energy even on a relatively small roof area.

HOW TO CALCULATE SOLAR POWER?

If you want to calculate whether your planned home solar plant makes sense, you don’t need special math skills. Convenient calculators are available on the network that will quickly calculate at what power level the plant will be. Of course, the greatest importance is the efficiency of solar panels, roof pitch, household electricity consumption and many others that contribute to the electricity needed. The demand for electricity should be calculated, while solar panel manufacturers give both the power and the annual capacity to generate energy for a given solar installation. As we know, each installation has individual parameters. On average, however, it is about 1000 KWh of electricity for a power of 1 KWp. The greatest power that solar power plants can achieve is, of course, achieved in summer, when access to the sun is high.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO MEASURE SOLAR PANEL PERFORMANCE IN THE LONG RUN, BECAUSE THE CELL’S PROCESSING CAPACITY DECREASES OVER TIME, REACHING APPROXIMATELY 80/90% OF THE ORIGINAL CAPACITY. IT IS ALSO WORTH KNOWING THAT THE INITIAL PERFORMANCE REACHES ABOUT 20-25% OF THE POSSIBILITIES. IT IS NOT SO THAT SOLAR PANELS USE 100% OF THE SUN’S RAYS THAT FALL ON THE SURFACE OF THE STRUCTURE. DESPITE THIS, THE FINAL POWER IS COMPLETELY SUFFICIENT TO SUPPLY ELECTRICITY TO A LARGE HOUSEHOLD OR BUSINESS.

SOLAR POWER PLANT INVESTMENT PRICE

The cost of investment, which is photovoltaic is the biggest and only disadvantage of this undertaking. Despite the subsidies, the cost of photovoltaics reaches tens of thousands, which is a very large expense, even if it goes hand in hand with the prospect of zero electricity bills. This is due to the high price of individual solar panels, which cost from several hundred to a thousand zlotys per item. As a rule, one panel has a size reaching up to a meter, so you need many such elements to build an efficient installation on the building surface.

Although renewable energy sources are gaining a lot of popularity, unfortunately it’s still hard to put them into practice. The largest number of renewable energy sources come from wind power plants. Solar power plants are found in Poland relatively rarely, despite the fact that we are the country’s leader in the production of installations of this type, which are eagerly bought by foreign investors. Despite the fact that in the current year the power achieved by solar modules is the highest compared to previous years, due to high costs, solar installations on private farms are still rare.

HOWEVER, RIGHT AFTER WIND FARMS, SOLAR FARMS ARE THE SECOND SOURCE OF RENEWABLE ENERGY IN POLAND. LET’S HOPE THAT THANKS TO THIS WE WILL QUICKLY EXCEED THE REQUIRED THRESHOLD OF 20% RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES IN THE COUNTRY.
